Recently I came upon a blog post by a very ignorant person telling families to stay away from Disney parks during Gay Days. I won’t repeat this person’s words of fear and hatred because I refuse to promote their blog.
Families Should Avoid

Disney Cast Members and VoluntEARS recently joined a lively crowd of 55,000 in downtown Orlando to participate in the 2010 Come Out with Pride celebration.
The annual event, organized by the Metropolitan Business Association, which serves as Orlando’s Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, celebrates members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community and its allies.
“It was wonderful to see so many positive and supportive people in our community come out and join us for such a memorable celebration,” said Andrea Hays, president of the PRIDE Diversity Resource Group at Walt Disney World Resort. “Each year we try to step up our involvement in the Come Out with Pride celebration and show our support. This year about 85 Cast Members and VoluntEARS represented Walt Disney World Resort in the parade and at events throughout the day, demonstrating just how much we value diversity and inclusion.”
This just announced in the OC Register…
Knott’s Berry Farm for the first time is getting involved with a specific event centered at a nearby theme park: Gay Days Anaheim at Disneyland.
Knott’s this year became a sponsor of Gay Days, which run Friday to Sunday, to promote its monster-filled Halloween Haunt events. The Buena Park park plans to set up a location, including photo opportunities with Haunt monsters and coupon handouts, at the Gay Days information center inside a Disneyland Resort hotel in Anaheim, said Jennifer Blazey, a Knott’s spokeswoman…
What began with controversy 20 years ago is now one of Orlando’s top events each year, with attendance larger than many of the biggest convention groups. It started as just one day at the Magic Kingdom and has expanded to a multi-day event at multiple parks.
It’s estimated that 150,000 people attended Gay Days 2010. For comparison, the World of Concrete convention has 90,000 registered and the IAAPA amusement park industry convention has 27,000 registered. The largest official event at Disney now is the January Marathon weekend, with 50,000 registered.
